Eclipse Issue: “.. overlaps the location of another project .. “

I need to do some updates on my old android project and today I tried these steps:

OPTION 1: Create new Android Project:

  1. File -> New -> Project
  2. Click Android then select Android Project from Existing Code
  3. Click Next
  4. Browse the directory of the project
  5. Click Finish

OPTION 2: Import an Existing Android Project

  1. File -> Import
  2. Click Android then select Existing Android Code Into Workspace
  3. Browse the directory of the project
  4. Click Finish

Luckily, neither of them works. I think there is a bug in Eclipse that doesn’t let you create an Android project from existing sources. I found this link discussing the same problem.

Here’s a screenshot of the error I got:

Here’s a work around on how we can solve this:

  1. File -> Import
  2. Click General then select Existing Projects into Workspace
  3. Click Next
  4. Browse the directory of the project
  5. Click Finish!

  1. vrunoa says:

    My eclipse doesnt have the option “Existing Projects into Workspace”

  2. No Joy: “ Please use the ‘Code Composer Studio > Existing CCS Eclipse Projects’ wizard to import the project ‘xxx’.” Looks like they closed this loophole?
